Rain, Rain, Go Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Standard

This has been one very frustrating week! My parents fought the water problem with the basement for years; now it’s my turn. Would love to open the windows, get out a chute, and have the dump truck start filling it with dirt! Started out the week feeling pretty good and thinking about the things I wanted to accomplish.

Sleepy Maine Coon

It started to snow and then rain.

Noah Called

I felt like my world had been turned upside down since all I did was mop up and wash and dry old towels and bedspreads.

Upside Down

But I kept on keeping on and hoping for a break.

I'm Not Tired Are You Tired

I was often wishing for this.

Momma Will Make It Better

Unfortunately, Mom is with the good Lord. So I had to figure out a way to stop this.

The Catterbury Tales

Get a sump pump, they said. It would be good, they said. Yup, this is how I looked while I’m putting it together.

This is How You Look Right Now

Now it’s put together and will hopefully make life a little easier. As this fellow says:

One of Those Weeks

I now sound like this every time I move!

I'm Not Old

I hope next week is better!

The Yearly Visit to the Vet

Standard

Yup, it’s that time of year again when Kirby gets his regular checkup, his shots, etc. I used to dread this  because he was hard to catch and very noisy when he was in the exam room. Started following some of the advice I had read and written about in previous blogs which seemed to help. Brought out the carrier where he can go in anytime he wants (and come out), put treats and play toys in the carrier, and threw in something with my scent on it. That seemed to help a lot. Still doesn’t like to ride in the car. :>) Let’s just say it’s a work in progress.

In the beginning, I would be met with a face like this when I’d bring out the carrier:

Cat Selfies

(Especially the last one in the first row and the first one in the second row)

Getting him into the carrier would be something like this.

Say Uncle

While in the carrier, his attitude was probably:

Keep Calm and Hate Everyone

Thank goodness Mom got smarter and started considering how Kirby felt and how scary a trip to the vet can be. This part is much better now. Of course, once we are at the vets and he comes out of the carrier:

Murder Button

Dr. Molly has a way of keeping him calm if I leave the room. Don’t hear the screaching and the squalling anymore like I used to. Exam goes well and it’s time to go home. What a difference! Quiet and sleeping.

If You're Sleepy Raise Your Paws

But if the truth be known, he may be having these thoughts.

The Vet

Vet Did to the Dog

Once we’re home, the trip is just a thing of the past.

These links will take you to my previous blogs about preparing your cat for a more relaxed way of going to and seeing the vet. Wish I had known this when my boys were kittens. Sure would have made it a lot easier.

A Poem From a Cat

Standard

Thomas and Salem lived in the northern part of the United States that received a lot of snow. Thomas was a man; Salem was his cat. Salem was a very handsome tabby that kept Thomas laughing when he was home. Thomas worked during the day so he was home in the evening to keep Salem company. Since he was a very smart cat, Thomas was able to teach Salem some cute tricks. He would fetch small things like a dog would which was very unusual.

One day, however, Thomas didn’t come home as often in the evening. If he did, he would have another human with him. She seemed very nice, but she wouldn’t pay any attention to Salem. She would just talk to Thomas and pay attention to him. Salem was starting to feel very neglected. He would try to cuddle with her, but she’d just shove him away. Thomas wouldn’t even let him sit on his lap when SHE was around! Salem was getting very angry and didn’t know how to change the situation.

He had been noticing that Thomas was always giving her something like flowers and candy or reading poetry to her, etc. But one day, he gave her a ring! Something seemed different and Salem knew he had to act quickly. But what? If he didn’t get her attention and affection now, he’d be out in the cold. Ah, ha! He had a great idea! He ran down to the flower shop, crept in when a customer opened the door, grabbed some carnations on the counter that another customer was buying, and took off on a dead run when the door opened again. He ran to HER house and waited for her to come out to go somewhere with Thomas. It worked! She thought this was so cute……………

Weird and Bizarre Cat Days

Standard

I do a newsletter for my church and send it out once a month. I started posted some of the weird and bizarre holidays for each month. Some of them are real crazy!! A lot of them revolve around food, like National Peanut Butter Cookie Day, and some are just plain silly, like Make Your Bed Day (isn’t that everyday?) or Be Late For Something Day. (Some people are always late) Anyway it gave me an idea for the blog. Here’s the weird days for this last week. Let’s see how our furry friends handle them.

Last Saturday, the 13th, was Positive Thinking Day. One look at this guy and you couldn’t help but do that!

Remember to Smile

Sunday was National Cream Filled Donut Day (Yum!!) This one wants his delivered.

Go Buy Something

Monday was Make A Hat Day. I think she had some help with hers.

Cute Bonnet

Tuesday was Collect Rocks Day (See what I mean about being silly) This cat passed on the rocks; he likes fish instead.

Oops

Wednesday was Citizenship Day. (Now that one makes sense!) You’re being a good citizen when you’re kind and helping someone else.

Every Cat Must Have Its Own Dog

Thursday was National Cheeseburger Day. (That’s another yum!) This little kitty made you a cookie because he wanted to trade it for your cheeseburger. (Sneaky little devil) However, you waited too long and he was too hungry.

I Made You a Cookie

Friday was Talk Like A Pirate Day. Couldn’t find any pirates, but found the Three Musketeers. That’s going to have to be close enough. However, they have the wrong day. Silly cats!

All For One and One For All

And finally, today is International Eat An Apple Day. Evidently the baby and/or the parents didn’t know that.

Watched Another Zombie Movie

Oh, well, such is life!! How did you do with this week’s weird and bizarre holidays? Like I said, some of them are pretty silly! Any comments to share about whether you liked this or not?
