If you are doing all of the above things to keep your kitty comfortable during even the hottest days, you’re on top of what it takes. Good for you!! A answers are what you want to strive for. Look into purchasing a water fountain; it’s a good investment. The C and D answers on last week’s quiz indicate that your cat is very uncomfortable and you need to make some improvements. Sometimes…………..

The Yearly Visit to the Vet

Standard

Yup, it’s that time of year again when Kirby gets his regular checkup, his shots, etc. I used to dread this  because he was hard to catch and very noisy when he was in the exam room. Started following some of the advice I had read and written about in previous blogs which seemed to help. Brought out the carrier where he can go in anytime he wants (and come out), put treats and play toys in the carrier, and threw in something with my scent on it. That seemed to help a lot. Still doesn’t like to ride in the car. :>) Let’s just say it’s a work in progress.

In the beginning, I would be met with a face like this when I’d bring out the carrier:

Cat Selfies

(Especially the last one in the first row and the first one in the second row)

Getting him into the carrier would be something like this.

Say Uncle

While in the carrier, his attitude was probably:

Keep Calm and Hate Everyone

Thank goodness Mom got smarter and started considering how Kirby felt and how scary a trip to the vet can be. This part is much better now. Of course, once we are at the vets and he comes out of the carrier:

Murder Button

Dr. Molly has a way of keeping him calm if I leave the room. Don’t hear the screaching and the squalling anymore like I used to. Exam goes well and it’s time to go home. What a difference! Quiet and sleeping.

If You're Sleepy Raise Your Paws

But if the truth be known, he may be having these thoughts.

Once we’re home, the trip is just a thing of the past.

These links will take you to my previous blogs about preparing your cat for a more relaxed way of going to and seeing the vet. Wish I had known this when my boys were kittens. Sure would have made it a lot easier.

I Hate This Time of Year!

Standard

Before you go to bed tonight, be sure to move your clocks forward an hour. (Oh, joy!!) I’m being a little sarcastic there because I hate doing this. Seems like it takes me at least two weeks to catch up with the time. Maybe some of you are like me. One piece of advice I’ve heard to prepare for this is to go to bed early every night for a few weeks so you are ready for the time change when it happens. Try to convince a cat of that! They’d probably give me this kind of look.

Christmas Day (Kitty Style)

Standard

It was a different Christmas with Mom being gone, but the boys and I made it through. I hope your Christmas Eve and Day was joyful and full of hope. Looking forward to a better year.

The day of Christmas Eve was exciting since everyone was getting ready for Santa Claus. There were last minute things to finish up with wrapping presents, cleaning house, and getting ready for the Christmas service at church. Sometimes things got a little confusing.

Your Death Will Be Slow and Painful

The Vacuum Cleaner is Out

While I was at church, the boys were making their lists and checking them twice.

Kitty and His Computer

But some of them didn’t want to stop and go to bed!

Enough Internet

Finally, everyone was asleep and the house was quiet.

The Children Were All Nestled Snug in Their Beds

Christmas morning dawned bright and early with snow on the ground.

Dashing

It wasn’t long until everyone wanted to see their presents, but there was a minor accident to clean up first.

The Tree is Dead

Once that was cleaned up, it was time to open presents.

This Is Just What I Wanted

Some were a little upset about cleaning up afterwards.

Throwing Away the Good Stuff

And some were a little too happy! Wonder what he got into.

Too Much of Something

And now it’s time to get back to “normal”, whatever that is. When you have cats, it’s hard to know sometimes. Whatever that happens to be, this is a definite………

Rewarding experience

See you in 2016!

My Cat is Thankful For……

Standard

Last week, I planned Thanksgiving dinner (with the help of my cats, of course!) This week we thought about what we are thankful for. Funny thing is, they don’t seem to be thankful for the same type of things I am. Hummm. Oh well, I’ll get to that in a minute. It’s so easy to think that we don’t have what we think we should have, but we are blessed by things everyday that we take for granted. A roof over our heads, clothes on our back, food to eat, etc. The situation in Paris has been very scary, and I’m thankful that I live in a small town where everything is pretty peaceful. The one big thing I’m thankful this year is that my mother was able to pass peacefully on September 21 and join my father who has been gone for five years. She is so much better now and at peace.

Okay, to get to the cats. Let’s start with the basics. They are, of course, grateful for the food they have to eat, but that may come with conditions.

Can Opener

Favorite Wet Food

They are grateful for a nice place to sleep, wherever that happens to be at the moment.

Sleeping 3

The Science of Sleeping

They are thankful for the variety of toys they have to keep themselves occupied.

Beep, Beep, Beep

Curiousity Gene

Hero

No Way You're Pole Dancing

So We Meet Again Mr. Dot

One thing ALL cats, big or small, are thankful for is a box!

New Cat Carrier

Plunder

Convention

Most of the time, I think they’re thankful to have each other.

We Is Friends

Three Purritos

And then there are the other times.

We're Getting a Puppy

One thing I know for sure is that I am thankful for them!!!!

To My Cat

Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone! Thank you for reading and commenting. I appreciate each and every one of you!
