Spring Has Sprung!

Standard

I’m sure that we have a few more snowstorms coming in this part of the country, but it’s spring according to the calendar. Let’s see how our furry friends like spring.

Since we lost an hour a few weeks back, it takes a while to get moving.

On top of that, cats may have trouble getting their humans up!

However, once our friends are up, there are things to do.

Once the necessities are out of the way, it’s time to eat.

and relax.

Then it’s time to play hide and seek.

Play with friends.

Catch a mouse.

Exercise

Have a treat.

After all that, it’s time to rest again.
Before evening, there might be time to pretend to be a Superhero

or to just simply watch people go by.

Some cats “spring” forward better than others. Don’t think this one is handling it too well!

Are you happy that spring is here?

Irish Blessings!

Standard

St. Patrick’s Day has come and gone. Irish blessings have been passed on. These cats are enjoying the blessings they have.

Food

and water.

Places to sleep.

Hoomans to entertain.

Places to climb.

Places to play.

Television

Facebook

Who could ask for anything more? Oh, well maybe ONE more thing.

Yup, I would say these cats have it pretty good. What do you think? Send us your suggestions of what else they might need.

Where’s Mergatroid?

Standard

Winter was almost over. The sun was getting warmer and Mergatroid liked to lie on the window sill to soak up the heat. It felt so good on his body! Not only that, he could watch everything going on outside. The snow was melting; people were out walking. Some of them even had dogs with them. Mergatroid was glad that he was inside because he didn’t really care for dogs.

One day the family decided it was time to do some cleaning. Not just regular cleaning, but washing and shampooing everything. The kids were in charge of their rooms while Mom and Dad worked on the living room. It took all day, but they washed the walls and the ceiling, dusted the furniture and were ready to shampoo the carpet when they realized that nobody had seen Mergatroid for a long time. They looked all over the house and in every room, but he was not to be found. Where was he?

When they finally found him, they had learned a very valuable lesson!

If My Cat Were President

Standard

My first thought would be that it would be a disaster! However, he seems pretty smart about some things, like getting me to do what he wants me to do. Maybe he could get something done. However, the capital would have to move to Wyoming before he would even consider it.

Sammy, you are now President of the United States.

You don’t need to hide. It’s really true!

tired-2

Oh, I can tell that you are REALLY EXCITED about this opportunity.

You’re going to have to give up some of your activities, such as ghost writing for me.

cat-typing

You’ll have to have an office staff

office-assistant

who hopefully won’t play around too much and get their jobs done.

catch-the-virtual-mouse

Then there’s the matter of Congress. Hopefully, some cats will be elected that can do something for the country instead of being so dysfunctional. (Well, maybe not)

What Are We Looking At

You’ll also have to work during the day most of the time and not the middle of the night.

its-not-3-am

Oh, let’s see. You’re going to need to have the Secret Service around you all the time.

cats-in-black

Now that you have your staff, what are you doing to do for the country?

Homes for everyone.

bunk-beds

Plenty of things to play with.

ordering-yarn

Food for everyone.

hare-in-my-pancakes

That’s pretty basic stuff, Sammy. Is there anything you do for us humans?

Oh, I see. You can listen to us and see what we need. That’s very nice.

puss-n-boots

It looks like the interview is over. He’s giving me that knock-it-off look.

Guess we’ll have to wait until the “President” is ready to talk to us again.

Have a wonderful President’s Day on Monday, everyone.

Did You Get a New Kitten for Christmas?

Standard

A new, furry, lovable kitten is always fun, but sometimes that fun wears off when the holidays are over. I’ve always believed that if you’re going to be a pet owner, you need to be a responsible pet owner. It breaks my heart to see animals mistreated because their owners are tired of them. All of us who are animal lovers know how precious these little lives are and that they deserve good care like the rest of our family.

Kind to an Animal

If the animal was a gift that you don’t want anymore, then please find it a home where it can be happy or put it in a no-kill shelter. The shelters are full of pets looking for a forever home. Some people prefer to adopt an older animal rather than getting a young one. An older cat is not as mischievous as a kitten can be nor are they as active.

Adopt a Senior Pet

Of course, who could turn this down?

Adoption

If you’re up for some adventure, you could always adopt a feral cat. It took my Sammy a long time to learn to trust humans, but the patience was worth it. He is the most lovable lap cat now and just gives me so much joy.

Feral Cats

Feral Cats Show Love

No matter which method that new cat arrived, they will return your love many times over.

Happiness Is

Pure Love

First Thing

Through all of this, however, you have to remember one basic fact. No one owns a cat!

No One Owns a Cat

Owned By a Cat

And finally……………

Cat Resolutions for 2017

Standard

Did you make your resolutions for the new year? If so, how long will you be able to stick to them? I used to make a big list when I was younger, but not so much anymore. At my age, it will get done when I get around to it. :>) My cats probably made theirs, but a lot depends on whether I cooperate or not. Let’s see……….

I will remain adorable and handsome. (That’s a given)

I will be resourceful when Mom doesn’t give me enough food. (Going to have to watch what I leave on the counter)

I will always be helpful. (Yeah, right!)

I will forgive my enemies. (Didn’t know you had any)

I will exercise to stay in shape. (Me too)

I will attempt to be kind to the dog. (This will last about five minutes!)

I will learn something new. (No comment)

I will study an art form. (You do that every day when you sleep)

I will spend time with friends. (Me too)

I will get sufficient rest. (15 hours isn’t enough?)

If my human doesn’t cooperate with me in 2017, this is what will happen.

Hummm, kitty cats, as your human, I’m not really worried about that. You guys are so spoiled and pampered that you’d never want to leave. Nice try though. What are your cat’s resolutions?

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas (According to Cats)

Standard

‘Twas the night before Christmas

and all through the house

all the creatures were stirring.

Even the mouse!

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care

in hopes that St. Claws soon would be there.

Mom in her kerchief and I in my cap

had just settled down for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear

but a miniature sleigh

and one old horse.

All the reindeer were sick

so Santa had to rely

on one old horse

that just couldn’t fly.

When Santa was let in

through the front door,

he immediately scared

the cats on the floor.

The cats were excited

to see what they’d get

as Santa delivered the gifts

to each pet.

Having finished his work,

Santa went to the door.

He climbed in his sleigh

and started to snore.

As the horse moved on

and was soon out of sight,

Santa was dreaming about the catnip

he would have later tonight.

Hope you enjoyed this. Want to wish each one of my readers a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2017! God bless each and every one of you.
