Did You Get a New Kitten for Christmas?

Standard

A new, furry, lovable kitten is always fun, but sometimes that fun wears off when the holidays are over. I’ve always believed that if you’re going to be a pet owner, you need to be a responsible pet owner. It breaks my heart to see animals mistreated because their owners are tired of them. All of us who are animal lovers know how precious these little lives are and that they deserve good care like the rest of our family.

Kind to an Animal

If the animal was a gift that you don’t want anymore, then please find it a home where it can be happy or put it in a no-kill shelter. The shelters are full of pets looking for a forever home. Some people prefer to adopt an older animal rather than getting a young one. An older cat is not as mischievous as a kitten can be nor are they as active.

Adopt a Senior Pet

Of course, who could turn this down?

Adoption

If you’re up for some adventure, you could always adopt a feral cat. It took my Sammy a long time to learn to trust humans, but the patience was worth it. He is the most lovable lap cat now and just gives me so much joy.

Through all of this, however, you have to remember one basic fact. No one owns a cat!

Yes, I know that the election is over with. However, did you know that cats had their own election in Anytown, USA? They believe in the democratic process too. (As long as they get their own way)

Answers to Is YOUR Cat a HOT Mess?

Standard

Last week was a quiz from the Catster Magazine. There were four answers to each question. Let’s see what the magazine said about your choices.

Do Cats Forget Like I Do?

Standard

It seems that I forget things now more than I used to. I’m assured that it’s all part of aging, but that doesn’t help the frustration. Just this morning, I’m thinking to myself, “I know there were two things to do on the computer today. What was the second one?” Do any of the rest of you find yourself in that situation? Or this?

What Did I Come For

Let’s look at some cats who forgot things. The cat who forgot he was adopted.

Adopted

The kitten who forgot to run fast.

Carry a Camera

The cat who forgot he shouldn’t be on the table.

Something Warm

The cat who forgot he gets stuck in the chair.

Amazing Cat

The cat who forgot she’s not a chicken.

Baby Sitting

The cat who forgot he never left!

I'm Back

The cat who forgot his license.

The cat who forgot to look cute.

There's Always That One Friend

The cat who forgot to lock the bathroom door.

Without Permission

The cat who forgot he was tired.

On Your Mark

The cat who forgot to wear matching socks.

Matching Socks

The cat who forgot he wasn’t home.

Plop Down

The cat who forgot who controls the red dot.

Control the Red Dot

The cat who forgot how to get in the house.

Drapes

The cat who forgot where he was.

Whoopsie Daisy

I guess the answer to my questions about cats forgetting is yes. Seems like they do forget. Of course, you have to have the one exception! Here’s the cat that COULDN’T forget.

More Problems For Your TOO MANY CATS

Standard

Remember last week when you accepted all those cats from Fred and the problems you might have?

Not married

I thought of some other things. How would you feed all those cats! Heaven forbid that you eat before they do.

Eating First

You might have a revolt on your hands!

Dramatic

Feeding the Cat

You might have to resort to this.

Ingratitude

Next would be the matter of visits to the vet for annual checkups and to make sure everyone is “fixed”.

Cats, the Gift That Keeps On Giving

Do you have room for all the “gifts” they might bring you?

You Now Have TOO MANY CATS!

Standard

Last week in talking about the “weirdness” of cats, I used this picture, among many.

Fred

Yes, cats remember how their kind was treated thousands of years ago.

Ancient Egypt

So you accepted Fred and all of his friends. Wonder what your house would look like now. There would be the problem of where they would all sleep. You might have to do this.

Cat Organizer

Or this.

Spare Cats

The overflow may have to sleep with you!

Ready For Bed

Well, enough of that! What else might happen?

Once they wake up, there might be a grouch among the group.

 Good Morning (2)

They’ll want to play.

Something Was Jumping

Move Over

They’ll want to look outside to see what’s going on.

Kitty Cats

They’ll have to introduce themselves to the dog.

Hello

They’ll need their exercise.

Be Right Back

Treadmills

There are very different personalities among all these cats. Anything from a fraidy cat,

Squish It

a shy cat,

Peek-A-Boo

a well educated cat,

Using Hashtags

a smart cat,

Science Cat

to a cat that’s just being a smarty pants!

Check Engine Light

But even through all the situations that come about, they will still love you.

Mom

After all,

Potato Chips

Do You Come Here Often?

Standard

Sammy usually went for a walk in the afternoon when the weather was nice. He would check out the neighbor’s yard to see if the dog had time to play. Then he would stop at the park to smell the flowers, flop around in the grass, and chase the bugs. If it was sunny and warm, he liked to lie on his back and let the sun warm up his belly. The last stop before going back home was the waterfront where some of the dock hands would feed him fresh fish. Yum!!! That was worth the walk!

On a particularly hot day, the dog didn’t feel like playing. Sammy didn’t have much energy either because of the heat. He was slowly making his way to the park when he noticed that a rabbit was walking with him. He’d never seen this rabbit before and thought the rabbit would just go on its way. No, the rabbit kept up with him until they got to the park. Sammy found a nice, shady place to lie down. However, the rabbit disappeared. Sammy went on to the waterfront and back home by himself.

The next day the rabbit was back walking with him again. This time, Sammy asked him who he was and where he came from. The rabbit told Sammy that he actually lived in the same yard with the dog. He would always hide when Sammy came around. He was curious about where Sammy would go and finally decided to find out. From that day on, they walked together. The dock workers enjoyed the rabbit too and would always have fresh lettuce to feed him.
